Baptist Union Environment Network (BUEN)

BUEN logo

The Baptist Union Environment Network - ‘BUEN’, meaning good in Spanish aims to raise awareness and respond to the environmental crisis.  They are building a network of environmental partners across Regional Association life who can journey alongside churches to enable them to

  • recognise the goodness of God’s creation
  • share in God’s mission to care for it and respond to the climate and environmental crisis in practical ways
  • work for justice for creation and people impacted by environmental change

BUEN is seeking to enable the Baptists Together family to be a prophetic movement in facing the climate and environmental crisis shaped by our shared values;

  • seeking to be a movement of Spirit led communities - hearing the cry of creation, recognising God’s call to caring for creation as an integral part of missional discipleship
  • feel like One Team - draw together different regional and world voices across the generations, listening to our failures, needs, fears and dreams, inspiring one another to a common desire to live in harmony with creation as disciples of Jesus
  • embracing Adventure - individually, locally, regionally and nationally, transition to a zero net carbon network by 2035
  • inspiring Others - seek to influence wider society to be part of a movement capturing God’s creative intent for human beings to care for creation
  • share a hunger for God’s coming kingdom - through prayer and action, in the face of the climate crisis, seek justice for the Earth, enabling the flourishing of all living things and its peoples

Joint Public Issues Team (JPIT)

jpit

The Joint Public Issues Team is a partnership between the Baptist Union of Great Britain, the Methodist Church, and the United Reformed Church. Their purpose is to help Churches to work together for peace and justice through listening, learning, praying, speaking and acting on public policy issues.

Christians are called to act justly and to work for God’s kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. JPIT aim to:

  • Share the message in words and action that political engagement is integral to Christian discipleship
  • Understand what churches need in order to speak and act prophetically and prayerfully on key issues of justice and peace
  • Equip, energise, affirm, support and resource our churches, at both local and denominational level, in their engagement with politics and public issues
  • Enable our Churches to speak together with a distinctively Christian voice in promoting justice and campaigning on public issues
  • Build deeper coalitions and partnerships to further these outcomes locally, regionally, in the nations, and internationally

London Institute for Contemporary Christianity (LICC)

LICC
Empowering Christians to make a difference in daily life.

If every Christian was equipped to live their whole life as Jesus would, it would change the world – one place, task, and person at a time.

The London Institute for Contemporary Christianity exists to help every Christian in the UK discover three simple truths:

Wherever we are, we can join in with what God is doing – whether he’s placed us in an office, a builders’ yard, a school, a sports club, or anywhere else.
The tasks we do matter deeply to God – from writing reports to fixing lights, caring for parents to driving buses, who we are and what we do has God-given purpose.
We can be fruitful in all kinds of ways – by modelling godly character, making good work, ministering grace and love, moulding culture, and being a mouthpiece for truth and justice and a messenger of the gospel.

Scripture Union

Scripture Union
Scripture Union helps the church reveal Jesus to the next generation.

We equip churches to reach children and young people – especially those outside the church – wherever they are, and in ways that truly connect. Because every young person should have the opportunity to discover Jesus. And too many never will.

Thrive Baptist Networks

Thrive

Thrive is a nationwide initiative, which aims to encourage a variety of networking between ministers' spouses from those who are training right through to those who are retired.  This networking will include different sorts of local and interest groups as well as events, and sharing via social media or email (for those who prefer it).

Ministers' spouses have many different occupations, careers and talents which we want to affirm and celebrate.  Being in contact with others in similar circumstances (i.e. married to a minister) allows us to be an inspiration and an encouragement to each other so that we can grow and flourish wherever God has put us.

You can contact them by email or find them on Facebook . Click here to go to their website.
