Sue Hunt

No Photo iconSue was born in Hampshire but grew up in Essex. Having been taken to church as a child, she made a commitment to follow Jesus aged 17. Her service to him started as youth worker at her church, followed by President of the Christian Union at college and undertaking many short-term mission and outreach events.

Having worked in sales, event management and recruitment she joined Viz-A-Viz Ministries as their Office Manager in 1995 where she served for 14 years. Her roles changed regularly as the organisation grew and included communications, media sales, fundraising and project manager for an annual, multi-activity, countywide youth and children’s festival called SOLID.

Following Joth to Eastleigh, Sue was gifted the opportunity to run a Fairtrade business for 12 years. Shop Equality was a retail outlet based in Eastleigh serving Hampshire and the south coast. Over the 12 years Sue ran the shop, recruited and managed volunteers, spoke in schools and churches about fair trade and saw the business grow by 10% each year. Her passion for fair trade and ethical shopping has not dimmed since moving to Kent. She will be happy to share her passion and to challenge folk to consider their impact on the poor by reviewing their buying habits. Micah 6 v 8 exhorts us to ‘act justly, love mercy & walk humbly with your God.’ You won’t see her buying from Amazon or drinking Nescafe! But she’ll happily share a bar of Divine chocolate with you.

Since moving to Kent, as well as serving SEBA, Sue volunteers in her local community shop and is beginning to help at Bread of Life in Rochester. She enjoys music, misses hearing their son, Tim’s, drumming, loves a good football match and can spend hours in a book.
