DBS Disclosures

Our DBS check service is provided by Due Diligence Checking Ltd (DDC) who use a list of verifiers provided by our Baptist Union.

If you would like to add names to the list of DBS verifiers for your church then please complete the Verifier changes form available from the Baptist Union website.

If you act as a DBS verifier for your church and have any questions relating to the DBS process, please contact DDC on 01162 603055 or email contact@ddc.uk.net. Their customer support team will be very happy to talk with you. Alternatively, you can visit the Baptist section of the DDC website for more information including Quick Start Guides for their system: www.ddc.uk.net/baptists

DBS Disclosures for ministers

All Ministers/Pastors require an up-to-date DBS disclosure for working in our Churches.

For a Baptist accredited minister or nationally recognized pastor ‘the appropriate agency’ for applying for this is the National Safeguarding Team of the Baptist Union. This enhanced disclosure must be undertaken by the South Eastern Baptist Association (SEBA) through DDC on behalf of the National Safeguarding Team. Please contact our Administrator to arrange for a new DBS or to check when you are due to renew it.

For other ministers you will be expected to hold an enhanced disclosure which will be undertaken by the church.

DBS Applications – please avoid false starts!

During 2018, the Baptist Union paid £15,000 in fees on applications for DBS applications which were subsequently withdrawn. This is a waste of Home Mission funds!

Please remember: DBS checks are free for volunteers in our Churches, but every time an application for a volunteer DBS is begun… even just putting someone’s name on the online form… BUGB (Home Mission) pays out £12!
